We asked three local, professional women what apps make their lives on the road a little bit easier. Here’s their advice:
Guides by Lonely Planet
“On international vacations, I love to try and find local apps for places to go, special events, restaurants loved by locals, and other such hidden gems. Lonely Planet also has fantastic city guides for major destinations, so I make sure to download those for wherever I’m going. But, honestly, one of the best ways to find interesting things isn’t about the tech—it’s about chatting with local people and getting their recommendations.” — Gayatri Pradhan, Founder of Poéthique
Free, iOS and Android, available in the app store and Google Play
Yelp, Turo & Spot Hero
“I love trying new places to eat when I’m away, and I could not live without Yelp. I love the map feature that shows where things are in relation to where I am staying, and being able to filter by ratings, price, cuisine, etc. It’s an oldie but goodie that I literally never leave home without. Some other apps I have started looking into for my next trip is Turo, where regular owners rent their cars out, and Spot Hero for getting the best parking deals.” — Danielle M. O’Brien, Founder of CORALIFE Coaching
Free, iOS and Android, available in the app store and Google Play
GoPuff Delivery & KeyRing
“I love the goPuff app so that I can avoid the boring vending machines in hotels and overpriced room service. Instead, I use goPuff to deliver pretty much any snack or beverage of my choice, right to my hotel room. I also use the KeyRing app to store all my rewards cards from stores. That way I can lighten up my wallet by not having to carry around those cards, but I can still have access to them.” — Ceray Fanta, IT Manager, Podcast host, Blogger
