Imagine yourself in a peaceful forest, where two paths lie before you. One promises financial abundance, while the other leads to a life filled with joy, purpose, and connection. It feels like you must choose between them—but what if I told you that the real magic happens when you see that these paths aren’t separate at all? Instead, they’re meant to be walked together, creating a life where prosperity and fulfillment go hand in hand.
For too long, the narrative around prosperity has been narrowly defined by material success. We’ve been taught that wealth requires nonstop hustle, sacrificing our well-being and relationships along the way. But deep down, we all know there’s more to life than just accumulating assets. I’ve learned that prosperity, in its truest form, isn’t about choosing between money and happiness—it’s about redefining wealth to include both and so much more.
This redefinition of prosperity is not just a possibility; it’s a necessity.
My Journey from Wall Street to True Wealth
In my early career on Wall Street, I thought I had it all figured out. I was driven, ambitious, and eager to climb the corporate ladder. But like many young professionals, I equated success with material possessions. One unforgettable mistake was going into debt to purchase a Prada handbag—a symbol, I thought, of my hard-earned success. But as you might have guessed, it didn’t fill the void I expected it to.
Have you ever made a purchase you thought would bring you happiness, only to find it left you feeling empty? This experience taught me about the powerful emotional and psychological ties we have to money—what I now call “money stories.” These stories can create barriers to true prosperity without working through them. These narratives often tell us we’re not good enough or must keep up with others to be valued. But the truth is, no handbag—or any material possession—can fill our deeper needs.
The Three Pillars of Prosperity ™
Through my work at Watch Her Prosper®, I teach that true prosperity is about living a life rich in every sense—emotionally, spiritually, relationally, and financially. Let’s explore The Three Pillars of Prosperity ™ that can help you achieve sustainable prosperity:
Pillar #1: Emotional Well-Being: The Foundation of Prosperity
Prosperity begins with how you feel inside. Emotional well-being is the bedrock on which all other forms of wealth are built. When prioritizing your mental health and happiness, you create the perfect environment for financial success.
When you stop judging yourself, a major shift takes place. In my work with clients, I emphasize the importance of acknowledging the stories you’ve inherited about money and recognizing that many stem from deep-seated, subconscious beliefs formed in childhood. These beliefs often operate on autopilot. Understanding this can free you from self-judgment and open the door to a more compassionate and empowered relationship with your finances.
Pillar #2: Spiritual Connection: Aligning Money with Purpose
Your financial life is deeply connected to your spiritual self. When you align your money with your purpose and values, you create a fulfillment that transcends material wealth. This alignment helps you make decisions that resonate with your soul, not just your bank account. It’s about asking, “Why am I pursuing this goal? Does it align with who I truly am?”
One of the exercises I recommend is the RIR Method™ (Recognize, Interrupt, Reframe). It’s a powerful tool for realigning your financial goals with your spiritual values.
- Start by recognizing any negative or limiting beliefs you hold about money.
- Then interrupt these beliefs by questioning their validity and considering their impact on your life.
- Finally, could you reframe your thoughts to align with your true intentions and values? For instance, instead of thinking, “I can’t afford this,” reframe it as, “I’m choosing to spend my money on things that align with my values and bring me joy.
Pillar #3: Healthy Relationships with People and Money: Building Wealth Through Connection
Prosperity is also about the quality of your relationships—with yourself, others, and money. How you interact with money reflects how you interact with the world. Building healthy relationships creates a flow of abundance that enriches all areas of your life.
And remember that those around you deeply influence your relationship with money. Consider the energy your company brings into your life—are they encouraging and supportive, or do they introduce negativity and stress? The same goes for their attitudes toward money.
It’s also essential to address any shame around money and success. Don’t downplay your successes or hide your wealth to avoid making others uncomfortable. Your success is something to be proud of!
Transforming Your Relationship with Money
Embracing prosperity requires more than just a change in mindset; it demands a transformation in how you relate to money. By nurturing your emotional well-being, aligning your finances with your spiritual values, and fostering healthy relationships, you can redefine prosperity on your own terms.
A practical exercise is rewriting your money story. Take some time to reflect on your current relationship with money—what beliefs and emotions come up for you? Write them down. Then, imagine yourself a year from now, living the life you desire. Write a new money story from this future perspective, focusing on abundance, joy, and fulfillment. This exercise can help you break free from old patterns and create a new, empowering narrative around money.
Another powerful tool for transforming your relationship with money is visualization. Imagine yourself living the prosperous life you desire—feel the emotions, see the details, and let your mind create the reality you want to live in. This practice helps shift your energy and align your actions with your intentions, making it easier to make them reality!
